General information
Trazodone is an antidepressant medication. It is used to treat depression. Trazodone may also be used for other purposes.
Directions
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results. It should be taken with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not crush or chew an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Precautions
Do not drink alcohol. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert. Avoid using it if you have an allergy, confusion, liver or kidney illness. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby, as the drug can be absorbed by skin.

Avoid using Desyrel if you have an allergy to Trazodone or pregnant or breastfeeding a baby.
Possible side effect
Stop taking trazodone and call your doctor at once if you have panic attacks, sleeplessness or petulance. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Drug interaction
Ask your doctor before taking any medicine for pain, arthritis, fever, or swelling. This includes MAO inhibitors, aspirin, nefazodone, naproxen, diclofenac, indomethacin, herbal medicines that contain kava kava or warfarin. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms may include sickness, chest pain, breaker heartbeat or giddiness. If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
